NXP Boosts AI with Kinara Acquisition
NXP Semiconductors announced the acquisition of Kinara, a leader in energy-efficient neural processing units (NPUs), for $307 million. This move strengthens NXP’s AI capabilities for industrial and automotive markets, enhancing real-time edge AI processing. Kinara’s NPUs, including Ara-1 and Ara-2, support generative AI and multi-modal applications. The integration will expand NXP’s AI platforms, improving performance, security, and efficiency. The acquisition is expected to close in early 2025. The combined innovations will be showcased at Embedded World 2025.
